I feel lucky to come from California.
My birthstate is a paradisiacal collision of old growth forests, artfully jagged coastline, bleached gold deserts and lazily rolling hills. Some of the country’s most iconic wilderness exists within the Sunshine State’s mammoth boundaries, graced by legendarily fair weather. Every time I return I’m taken all over again, unsure if I’ll be able to leave this time.
